The beginning

It all begins with an idea. One instant message sent from a friend for an idea to start to bloom. Specifically a house listing from Redfin of a beautiful place in Ludington Michigan. We weren’t even thinking about moving. We were just about done renovating our current home of eight years in Washington state, but with how the market has been we quickly decided that this would be the optimum time to sell and get a bang for our buck and the fact that we were about to be a family of six!

We ended up loosing that house in Ludington but the spark was still there and we continued our search. It also gave us time to tie up loose ends on our house in Washington.

Three months later and two other house we were outbid on, we put in an offer on our home. It was contingent on the Washington house selling. Our amazing agent got pictures scheduled and it went live the following evening. The house sold in less then forty-eight hours and closing in thirty days. Mean while in Michigan it takes two months to close but we were officially under contract.

I don’t know what we were thinking. A very pregnant me, thirty or so weeks, three kids (11, 8 & 2), two dogs and turtles, a cat and hamster and my poor husband were all about to embark on a life changing event. Some how when ever we move I’m always pregnant or have just given birth and Alex is stuck doing everything. Oops. Sorry babe.

Any who…… day before Thanksgiving the moving truck comes and in goes all of our things. We load up the car and truck. Our kitty goes to stay with a wonderful friend, who I am very thankful for and the rest of us and the pets head for my dads house. We were still waiting for the official closing date on the Michigan house and hoping it would be around mid-December. Guess again, we were still all camped out in my dads living room tell the twenty-eighth. 1600 sq ft of a house with nine people occupying it plus our animals. Thank goodness my dad loves me.

Christmas had come and gone and we had been watching the weather to see if we would be able to make the 2,300 mile journey to our new home. We set out on the twenty-eighth in hopes to be in Michigan in five days. Stopping every evening after about 6-8 hours of driving. Driving cross country in the middle of winter was intense to say the least. The passes were snowy and icy. We ended up staying in Wyoming for two nights because they closed the highway down. It was pretty much windy the whole way. On January third we finally arrived and saw our new home for the first time! It was a blind sale. We only saw pictures that our relator sent and from the inspection but, we absolutely loved it! We’ve now been here four months and can’t wait to share our on going story with you.

Cheers!
